Basic Judaism Crash Course

Monday, 22 November, 2021 18 Kislev 5782

7:00 PM - 8:00 PMOnline

There is no better time to sign up for our five-part Crash Course in Basic Judaism. Join Dr. Rena Secter Elbaze on a journey beyond the Judaism you think you know!

Week 1 Belief in God: An exploration of humankind’s relationship with God, God’s role in the world and its history, and a discussion of the value of believing in God.

Week 2 Prayer: Many people think of prayer as an act of the synagogue, but this class demonstrates that Jewish prayer is multifaceted, enabling both individual and communal communication with God, as well as an opportunity for self-reflection.

Week 3 The Sabbath: An explanation of the Jewish concept of the Sabbath and a look at how the Sabbath is actually a truly enriching gift, especially in our modern era of ever-present technology.

Week 4 Jewish Observance: An exploration of how the rituals of Jewish life build a moral framework to make our lives more meaningful and enhance society.

Week 5 Sexuality: A discussion of how the physical unity in a relationship is elevated by the inclusion of a mature and committed understanding of our relationships with one another and with an awareness of every couple’s ability to build together and perfect the world.
