Torah L'Chayim Pirkei Avot

Thursday, 12 May, 2022 11 Iyyar 5782

12:00 PM - 1:00 PMOnline

It is customary during the Omer—the seven-week period between the holiday of Passover and the holiday of Shavuot—to study Pirkei Avot (generally translated as “Ethics of Our Fathers”). The Rabbis proclaimed: “derech eretz kadmah laTorah”, decency and kind behavior should precede Torah. Pirkei Avot presents us with a series of ethical principles articulated by the rabbis for character development, moral growth, and lessons for daily living to prepare ourselves to experience the Revelation of the Torah on Shavuot.

More about Torah L’Chayim
Torah L’Chayim with Rabbi
Aníbal Mass is a longstanding weekly program held on Thursdays at Noon CDT which explores a variety of themes raised each week in the Parasha. No experience is necessary, no Hebrew knowledge required, and you don’t need to be a Torah scholar. The format is adapted from our post-Shabbat service meetings -- Rabbi Mass will present themes of the Parasha, with questions taken online by chat on Facebook and YouTube. Join us in studying with the Rabbi and enjoy hearing how our ancient texts influence our contemporary lives.
