Dear Friends,

A major storm is expected to bring significant accumulations of snow to the City of Winnipeg and will include high winds and zero visibility beginning Tuesday evening through to Thursday evening. The latest information from Environment Canada can be found here. For the safety of the congregation, clergy and staff, we are enacting the following contingency plans to continue our operations during this storm:

  • Minyan Services will be offered virtually only – no in-person attendance – beginning Tuesday night, April 12, through to and including Friday evening, April 15. Service times are available here. Unless there are power and internet outages, services will be broadcast.
  • The Office and the Synagogue Building will be closed to the public on Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14 but our staff and clergy team will be working remotely. You will be able to reach our team during office hours by calling their direct lines or sending emails – for a directory of staff click here, and for a directory of clergy click here.
  • Pick Up of Catering Takeout for Pesach will be available on Friday, April 15. No appointment is necessary, please come during the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. If you have any questions or concerns, please send an email to our Executive Chef, Joel Lafond, at joel@szwinnipeg.ca or call 204-975-3485.
  • The Congregational Second Seder will proceed as planned for Saturday, April 16 beginning with Minyan at 5:30 PM, followed by the Seder at 6:15 PM. Should the snowstorm prevent us from holding this event in-person, a notification will be sent out to registrants with more information.

Any changes to these plans will be posted to the synagogue’s websiteFacebookInstagram, and will be emailed to the congregation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us by emailing hello@szwinnipeg.ca or call the office at 204-452-3711.

Stay safe and Chag Pesach Sameach,
