Neil Duboff, President, Capital Campaign Chair

In Judaism, the synagogue is much more than just a building. It is a sacred space where we connect with God, with one another, and with our shared history and traditions. It is a place where we find comfort in times of sadness, and joy in times of celebration. It is a place where we seek guidance, support, and inspiration from our rabbis, teachers, and fellow congregants. The synagogue, or shul, is the centre of Jewish religious life where Jews come together to pray, study, and celebrate.

The synagogue is also an important vehicle for the transmission of Jewish values and teachings from one generation to the next – L’Dor VaDor. It is where we learn about our rich history and traditions, and where we are taught the importance of Mitzvot, Tzedakah, and Tikkun Olam.

But the synagogue is not just a place of religious and spiritual importance. It is also where we come together for social events, celebrations, and support. The synagogue is a place where we build friendships and connections with others who share our values and beliefs. It is a place where we can feel a sense of belonging and identity.

In today's fast-paced world, it can be easy to forget the importance of the synagogue in our lives. But I encourage you to make the effort to attend services and to get involved in our Shaarey Zedek community. By doing so, you will enrich your spiritual life, strengthen your connections to your fellow Jews, and help ensure that Shaarey Zedek continues to be a vibrant and vital part of Jewish life for generations to come.

I am hopeful for the future of our synagogue. We have a strong and dedicated community that is committed to supporting each other and to continuing our important work. There are many opportunities for us to innovate and grow Shaarey Zedek. We can continue to develop our programming to reach a wider audience, to provide more educational and social opportunities, and to deepen our connection to our Jewish values and traditions. Together we will explore new ways to engage with the wider community and to support those in need - we can make a positive impact in our community and beyond.

But, we need your support and participation to make these initiatives a success. I encourage each of you to get involved in our programs, to share your ideas and feedback, and to help us build a strong and vibrant Shaarey Zedek. Together, we can create a Shaarey Zedek that is not only a place of worship, but a centre of learning, outreach, and community.

I am excited for what the future holds and look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming events.

I am honored to be a part of this community, and I look forward to working with you all to build a stronger and more vibrant Shaarey Zedek.

May we all continue to find inspiration, meaning, and community within our Shaarey Zedek.
