Dear Friends,

As the conflict between Iran and Israel continues to unfold, we are once again faced with heartbreak, fear, and profound uncertainty. The loss of life, the pain of the wounded and displaced, and the anguish of families waiting for the return of hostages weigh heavily on us all.

In times of pain and turmoil, we are reminded of the enduring strength and purpose of our kehilla kedosha — our sacred community. Shaarey Zedek is more than a synagogue. It is a place where we stand together in sorrow and in strength, where we hold fast to our values of peace, justice, and compassion — even when the world feels dark. 

As a community, we continue to pray for the safety of Israel and her people, safety of the IDF, for healing and protection of all those affected, and for the safe return of the hostages. We offer our support to one another, knowing that our shared presence — in prayer, in action, and in compassion — is a source of light and resilience. 

If you are feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or simply in need of someone to talk to, please don’t hesitate to reach out. As your Rabbi, I am here for you — to listen, to support, and to walk alongside you through these difficult days. You are not alone. 

May the One who brings peace to the heavens grant peace to us, to all Israel, and to all the world.
