Books They Never Taught Us (Melton)
Thursday, 4 April, 2024 • 25 Adar II 5784
6:00 PM - 7:30 PMZOOMThe Torah is one of the most widely studied books in Jewish life. We return to it year after year, gaining fresh insights each go around. But we don’t focus as much on many of the other books that make up the larger Hebrew Bible, aka the Tanach? Stories found in Samuel and Kings show us examples of the peaceful transfer of power. The book of Jeremiah highlights how the Babylonian exile transformed Jewish understandings. And the book of Daniel explores Jewish mysticism and views on the afterlife! In this exciting new course from acclaimed Melton teacher Rabbi Richard Address, we will spend time looking over some of the lesser studied books of the Tanach and, in doing so, provide new insights into our history and contemporary Jewish issues we continue to focus on today.
